Our new game: Gnaughty Gnomes

After Bread & Fred it was time to develop our next game: a multiplayer game starring gnomes!

Introducing Gnaughty Gnomes, our new chaotic multiplayer game!

Since the release of Bread & Fred in May 2023, our community and studio have grown in ways we never imagined. What started as a project between three friends to create a challenging co-op platformer, became a shared experience for thousands of players, generating laughter, (good) frustration, and unforgettable moments.

In May 2024, our team already consisted of 7 people and we took it a step further by bringing Bread & Fred to Nintendo Switch, allowing even more players to enjoy our adorable climbing penguins. But we didn't stop there.

Today, in 2025, Sand Castles Studio is made up of 8 members and we're ready to take the next big leap with a completely new project. After months of work (and many cups of coffee), we can finally share it with you: Gnaughty Gnomes.

What is Gnaughty Gnomes?

Imagine this: mischievous gnomes, an arsenal of absurd objects, customizable powers, and matches full of chaos. That's Gnaughty Gnomes in a nutshell. It's a frantic multiplayer game for up to four players where you can throw, hit, and taunt your friends in a whirlwind of laughter and destruction.

Each game lasts about 30 minutes and is packed with fast-paced action. You can customize your gnome with over 5000 appearance combinations, enhance your abilities with 100+ unique cards, and experience chaos in 20+ randomly selected maps, each with its own arsenal and surprises. Speaking of weapons, in this game, anything goes: from furniture to your opponent's head (yes, literally). Oh, and you can also taunt your enemies with emotes to ensure maximum humiliation.

We know that Bread & Fred is still a beloved game for many players. While we're fully focused on developing Gnaughty Gnomes, we haven't forgotten about our penguins. In fact, we're still working on PS5 and Xbox ports, and we're also preparing new content and surprises for Bread & Fred.
